On 09/27/2016, organized by the Centre for Development of Skopje region was held a meeting on State of canal networks in Skopje Planning Region. The meeting was opened and chaired by the President of the Council of Skopje Planning Region, the Mayor of municipalty of Ghorche Petrov Mr. Sokol Mitrovski.

The meeting was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning, State Inspectorate of Environment by the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning, representatives from municipalities in Skopje Region and the City of Skopje, the Center for Crisis Management – CUK, AD Vodostopanstvo Skopsko pole. There is still a clear lack jurisdiction over the canal network in the municipalities because it shows a problem of maintenance and down at critical points. Because the definition of critical points and places and determine concrete measures for their proper functioning is crucial for Skopje planning region. Central focus of the discussion was to define the conclusions and recommendations to improve and enhance the functioning of the channel network in the Skopje region and tackling the problems of maintenance of canal network in the municipalities. The general conclusion was, representatives of AD Vodostopanstvo Skopsko pole to visit municipalities in the Skopje region from which will collect information on the canal networks and critical points where AD Vodostopanstvo Skopsko pole will prepare a report and will present to the next meeting.
